2010 Orsianna Merlot, Mill Creek,
Sonoma Valley suggested retail $20
The 2010 Orsianna Merlot was artfully crafted by winemaker, Susie Selby of Selby Winery. Aged in neutral American oak barrels for 18 months, the 2010 is drop-dead gorgeous with its inky black fruit notes and lovely spice box aromatics. Inspired by the great Right Bank Bordeaux of France, this Merlot offers up succulent notes of cassis, black plum, cigar smoke, dusty cherry, darkly roasted coffee beans and savory spice. The 2010 Orsianna manages to capture the very best qualities of Merlot, blending tradition with innovation at an attractive price point.
The balance of fruit with a touch of oak in wine our wine is essential. Our goal, by starting with perfectly ripe fruit is to create a wine that provides harmony between the oak and fruit flavors. Short fermentation times allow for maximum color and extraction while softening the influence and creating mouth watering soft tannins. These winemaking techniques guarantee that our Merlot will be juicy, not over-ripe, and not to tannic.
